Requiescat In Pace

Officiated by Shipmate Paul Lomas - RNA Torbay Branch Chaplain

Shipmates John William Soanes funeral was attended by many shipmates of RNA Torbay, Shipmate David Cair, RNA Newton Abbot Standard Bearer, and three members of the TON class/Hong Kong Flotilla Associations. A guard of honour (Social distanced) was formed outside the crematorium, and manned the driveway into the covered way.  Shipmate Terry Membery, Branch President, called the guard to attention and salute as the hearse led by the funeral director moved slowly past, followed by the family limousine.  Its not the big send off and farewell we would have liked for Shipmate John, a well respected and popular shipmate and friend;, as due to Covid, numbers were limited. Not the best of days, with heavy rain and extremely high winds, which prevented the planned Standards escorting and leading the hearse and funeral cortège up the crematorium driveway.

Principle mourners: Ann Soanes, Daughters Louise & Judy, Granddaughter Sophie, and Grandson John Louis and Phil Sophie & John Louis's father.

Supported by Shipmates Terry Membery, Norrie Millen, Tony Mordaunt, Shaun Runham, Mike Neville, Peter Roberts, Fred Minchin, Ken Dustan, Chris Thomas, Ged Sarsfield , Brian Andrews, Colin Fortune & David Cair. The Ton Class represented by Commander Rory Jackson and Shipmate Derek Potter and supported by Nicole Amil - Armed Forces Champion, Torbay Council
